Synopsis: The Summer of Jupiter in Aries

While much of the US is celebrating the Memorial Day this weekend, the skies are doing anything but taking it easy.  In many ways, this coming week is a game-changing shift in the Flow, although so much is occurring within the depths that it may take some time before some changes reach the surface…and I’m not just talking about oil here!

Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune all break some waves this week.  So if you pay attention and keep in mind what’s going on above, you can get your ticket punched for a rather wild ride.

To the details, faithful friends and fans of the Flow!

First up is Saturn.  It goes direct on Sunday, May 30th at 11:11am.  Like when planets go retrograde they tend to be most noticeable, similarly are they noticeable when they go direct.  Saturn is the planet of obligations, responsibilities, and discipline.  It approaches tasks brick by brick and nail by nail to build monuments that can stand the test of time.  It is serious, dependable, and patient, and approaches all it does with a steady, patient, but firm hand.

Last night I watched The Bridge on the River Kwai for the 7 thousandth time, and Alec Guinnes’ character, Colonel Nicholson, deftly plays an avatar of Saturn.  He was stern, disciplined, methodical, bound by duty, honor, and an unyielding faith in his principles. He believed wholeheartedly in the benefits of work well done, and was determined to build a bridge that would last hundreds of years.

Except that the bridge he was building was an instrument of the enemy, and regardless of his ideas and principles, it had to be blown up.  Poor Alec!  I’m sure Obi Wan Kenobi would have known better.

Anyway, Saturn direct is a serious time, so I expect it to cast a bit of a pall on this weekend’s celebrations.  Yes, people are glad for an extra day or two off work, and have plenty of plans for the weekend, but mostly people just need time for rest and recuperation.  The general mood is somber, as if there were hidden fears and insecurities lying in every shadow.  Boo!

Since Saturn went retrograde on January 13th, many of us had to review and revise our obligations – obligations to our selves, and others.  Some of us had to review our work, our line of work, or the value of our very jobs.  Some of us had to review our relationships with others, a spouse, parent, child, or other loved one.  Some of us had to review our finances, our budgets, and our spending habits.  And some of us had to review the kind of person we have been, and made corrections and adjustments to our behavior.

Saturn is the gyroscope of our karma.  Those rings around it keep it on a steady, even keel, and trying to move them in their designated paths is like trying to move Mt. Everest with your bare hands.  Lotsa luck!  Resistance is futile.

So, to all of you, to all of us who met Saturn on Saturn’s terms and made adjustments and came out a bit cleaner, leaner, and healthier than we were before – congratulations!  As Saturn moves direct, the benefits for your work well done will become more apparent.  Enjoy them, they are well earned!

Next up is Neptune.

Neptune goes retrograde on Monday, May 31st at 11:50am.  If Saturn is the “reality principle”, Neptune is its complement.  Neptune is dreamy, mysterious, spiritual, lofty, idealistic and optimistic.  All of which have a tenuous hold on reality, or is it that they are reality and what we think of as real is the illusion?

Neptune rules religion, drugs, and alcohol, but most of all, Neptune rules the sea.

All of the magnificence, power, and glory of the sea is Neptune’s realm.  From the calm shores and peaceful beaches to the outermost depths of the Marianas Trench, Neptune’s rule is absolute.  And lest you are fooled by Neptune’s often beneficence, there are few forces more destructive than a hurricane.

Neptune rules the seas because to the ancients the seas were their source of survival and sustenance.  They envisioned themselves surrounded by the seven seas, and their very lives depended on their relationship to it.  We ourselves came from the sea and are still walking vessels of waters.

Neptune, Neptune everywhere!  Neptune pervades us everywhere…in our bodies, and in the oceans of water and air in which we exist.  Do not be fooled!  Neptune’s ebbs and flows affect us deeply.

And none so profoundly as when it turns retrograde or direct.  Probably the easiest symbol of Neptune retrograde is an ostrich with its head in the ground.  Denial, denial everywhere, and not a drop to drink!

Handling Neptune retrograde periods is not easy.  Many around you will want nothing more than to pretend what they don’t like or want to face doesn’t exist.  Important facts are overlooked.  Important things are forgotten.  Important conditions are left out of contracts.  Don’t sign one unless you have to until Neptune goes direct on November 7th

But most of all, Neptune is a call to heed our own inner ocean — to heed the ebb and flow of our own lives, and to understand our selves a little better.  Some of us may bathe on breathtakingly beautiful beaches, others may delve into the depths of their soul, and still others may find themselves on some rocky shores.  But we are all now ships on Neptune’s retrograde waters.  Bon voyage!

And yes, there’s more!

On Friday, just before it leaves Leo, Mars riles the waters and opposes Neptune at 10:54am.  You just heard a LOT about Neptune.  I like to think of Mars as the Energizer Bunny of the solar system, actively powering everything it touches.  But Mars can also be a bit of a pain in the arse.  It can be aggressive, pushy, loud, and confrontational.  Bullies, soldiers, and athletes all have little Marses sitting on their shoulders.

As you might think after reading about Neptune, perhaps one of the last things it needs is Mars yanking its chain.  And while Mars may rile Neptune’s waters, Neptune in turn douses Mars’ fires.  Not a recipe for a stroll in the park.

So from late Wednesday when this aspect begins to take hold, through early Sunday at least, play it cool.  Don’t upset anyone’s boat.  Mind your mouth.  Pick your fights carefully.  And remember the relationship between discretion and valor.  In fact, let’s make that the mantra for the end of the week, “discretion is the better part of valor.”  Repeat.  Rinse.  Repeat often!

And don’t touch that dial, because there’s even more in store!

On Saturday, at 11:29pm Jupiter enters Aries, where it will remain until a little after Labor Day.  Oh boy…

Don’t get me wrong.  Jupiter in Aries is not a bad thing.  But is a very different thing than Jupiter in Pisces.

Jupiter and Pisces get along very well.  In fact, the ancients gave rulership of Pisces to the old chap.  Jupiter is expansive, optimistic, generous and idealist.  Pisces is open, nebulous, accepting, and couldn’t find a boundary if you gave one a map.  Pisces is also warm, comforting, easygoing and friendly.  Jupiter and Pisces go together like bread and cheese, birds and bees…well you get the picture.

Aries is hot – fiery hot.  You might even say Aries gives Jupiter a hotfoot – which may not always be a bad thing, because like Pisces, Jupiter isn’t always the most motivated of planets.  So some of what happens when Jupiter enters Aries is that people begin to reengage in all kinds of projects that have been languishing around or percolating beneath the surface.

While on a personal level this can be a good thing, it’s on a mass-scale level that things can get a bit dicey.  Jupiter in Aries has a particular problem with the word “no” and when you get into the realm of politics and diplomacy this can be a bit of a problem.  Thus, Jupiter in Aries tends to give rise to militant social movements and organizations that often spark widespread conflict.

One of the very good things that often come from Jupiter in Aries is that it usually offers an opportunity for leadership and the benefits to all of us that can come from exercizing it well, personally, socially, or globally.  For that reason, Jupiter in Aries often sees the end to limited wars.  I would not be surprised if both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars end by the time Jupiter leaves Aries this time next year on June 4, 2011.  However, saber rattling from North Korea, Iran, and Venezuela may ignite further conflict.

Economically, Jupiter in Aries is time that the markets usually trend up.  Particularly for those products and services that relate to defense contracting, weapons, surgery and medical devices, energy, and metals, particularly steel.

And finally the Ronco© steak knives of the week that Leos, Scorpios, Aquarians and Taureans have been waiting for!

Next Sunday, June 6th at 11:11pm (numerologists take note of all the 11’s going on this week!) Mars finally is done with Leo and moves on to Virgo.  From this Leo, it is a deep and emphatic “Hail and farewell!” to Mars.  He has been in Leo since October 16th, a very, very long stay for Mars, who usually remains in one sign about two months.

During the time of Mars’ sojourn in Leo, he has caused Leos, Tauruses, Scorpios, and Aquarians quite a bit of drama, upending many an applecart so to speak, and has kept us busier than a hive of bees in a valley of clover.

Now it is those signs turn to get a bit of a break from the action, and time for the Virgos, Geminis, Sagittarians and Pisceans to hop to beat of Mars’ drums.  Fortunately, for these folks, Mars will only stay until July 28th, and then be giving hotfeet to Libras, Capricorns, Arieses, and Cancer folks.

I think that’s enough for this week…have a great week!

The Flow! is updated every Sunday.

Please note: all times are in the Pacific Timezone.

This week starts out with us Swinging from the stars and ends with Previews of coming attractions.  It’s likely to be quite a week!

As the week begins, we are still reeling from the effects from the opposition of Jupiter and Saturn that occurred on Saturday, May 22nd at 10:38pm.  On the May 23rd chart below, you can see red Jupiter and green Uranus on one side, and yellow Saturn and the cyan Moon on the right (the images are clearer if you click them).  Just like a see-saw, only this see-saw is no child’s toy.  This aspect has been affecting our economic cycle, politics, and culture, and its effects are going to be with us for at least another week or so.

Jupiter is the planet of expansion, growth, opportunity and optimism.  Saturn is the planet of restriction, discipline, careful behavior, and pessimism.  When the two stand off like two gun-fighters at the OK Corral, it’s push-me-pull-you time for one and all.  There always seems to be a bit of bad news with the good news, and vice versa.  We swing from optimism to pessimism and back in a flash, all the while trying to make sense of it all.

You can see this in our economy.  We have a recovery with no job growth, but wait!  Then unexpectedly, the job market picks up…and then Wall Street loses ground.  Then the job market dips and unemployment shrinks, then the job market picks up, and so on.

Politically, we’ve been hearing for months how the GOP is going to sweep elections, but then lose the most critical one available this past Tuesday.  And the Democrat who won, Mark Critz, has stands on the issues that make him sound more like a Republican than a Democrat!  Then, one of the major candidates who wins a remarkable upset, Rand Paul, crashes into a wall of media spotlights regarding questions of racial integration, throwing into question what otherwise would have been a sure win in November, into doubt.

The British just had an election, and who wins?  Nobody.  So the Conservatives and Liberal-Democrats, two parties at the extremes of British politics try something new and form a coalition to govern the country.  Sound like a see-saw with a dash of unexpected novelty?  Welcome to the end of May, 2010.

See-saw, Marjorie Daw, which end of the see-saw are you fated to draw?

The best course of action during this time is to avoid extremes.  Don’t expect manna to fall from heaven, but don’t walk around in an angry glum fog, either.  For one thing, people at this time have little tolerance for PDE’s or Public Displays of Emotion.  Follow your intuition, as it is apt to be strong.  Look for an economic change of the wind toward the end of the week.  Plans for expansion may hit obstacles…even the most carefully thought-through plans may his snags.  Try to take them in stride as best you can.

Generally, when obstacles are met there’s an important lesson that once addressed makes it easier for you to move forward.  Make sure you’re attending to what is really important to you, and you should be able to avoid devastating pitfalls.  This is a time of unexpected ups and downs, so now more than ever it is important to just go with the flow!

As the week progresses and the Jupiter-Saturn aspect begins its slow wane, Uranus jumps the shark, err ecliptic, and enters Aries on Thursday, May 27th at 6:48pm.  Make no mistake, this is a HUGE event, although it will take considerable time for the full effects to be felt.

Uranus takes about 84 years to circle the zodiac.  The last time Uranus was here, the ‘20’s were roaring, radio was huge news, and Lindburgh crossed the Atlantic.  During Uranus’ stay we were dealing with the Great Depression, the rise of Communism and authoritarian regimes, Nazism, and great unrest in Europe.  The United States passed an immigration bill restricting immigration from eastern and southern Europe.  And finally, as Uranus was mostly through with Aries, Prohibition was repealed.

When Uranus was here in the 1840’s, we had the Mexican-American war, Marx and Engels published the Communist Manifesto, and the first convention for women’s rights was held in Seneca Falls, New York.  There was the Great Irish Famine and interestingly enough, after the Panic of 1837, the economy of the US was beginning to pick up by the time Uranus actually entered Aries.  Technologically the first telegraph was sent, and general anesthesia was beginning to be used.

What does that mean for us?

Uranus in Aries tends to make us more aggressive, and more likely to act rashly.  There is a tendency to place greater importance on short-term goals than in long-term principles.  People tend to be more independent, more adventurous, and more self-oriented with Uranus in this sign, and I would not be surprised if there were not some social or cultural issues associated with the electronic bubbles that people, particularly younger people, seem to be building around themselves.

There also seems to be a tendency toward right-wing and authoritarian political movements.  When Uranus is in Aries there is a smoldering growing militancy that gains momentum while Uranus is in Taurus, that actually breaks out into war when Uranus is in Gemini.  The American Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II both follow this pattern.  Today, not only the Middle-East, but South-East Asia (Thailand, Burma), Venezuela, and North Korea all bear watching.

For us now, Uranus does not remain in Aries long.  It moves back into more peaceful, placid Pisces in mid-August.  Still, it is in Aries long enough to make an impression, so it is highly likely that we are in store for some interesting previews in the weeks and months ahead.  Stay tuned!

Otherwise, this is a rather quiet week astrologically.

Sunday May 23rd

Sunday is not likely to be the pleasantest of Sundays.  It is Pentecost/Whit Sunday, so Happy Pentecost, to all the Pentecostals out there!  If I had to sum up one for this day, I’d say we’re all wrapped up in being cranky.  Nothing feels right, everything feels unagreeable, nothing feels satisfactory, and we all just feel a bit down in the mouth without even knowing why.  Cheer up, though, because Monday is apt to be a better day!

Monday May 24th

Happy Victoria Day to our Canadian friends!  Monday is apt to find us in a better mood.  We find it easier to conduct the business at hand, our energy levels are high, and we have a strong need to accomplish outstanding tasks.  This is all to the good, because Monday night we don’t feel like doing squat.  At night, the perfect thing to do is vegetate in front of the TV watching your favorite show or movie, and letting yourself feel transported into another realm.  For those of us, however, that are inclined to do personal inner work, Monday night is an excellent opportunity to travel the paths within for insight, harmony, and wisdom.

Tuesday May 25th

Tuesday morning is just the opposite of Sunday.  We feel good about things, perhaps even a bit frisky, and because it’s a Tuesday morning, there is much less that we can do to express those feelings…except perhaps to be a bit friendlier at the water cooler.  Tuesday afternoon is likely to find us in a familiar place, wrestling with business minutiae that won’t behave.  Tuesday is NOT the day to try to have a meaningful conversations, as people are way too likely to misinterpret what is being said, and instead pay far too much attention to the little voice inside their head.

Wednesday May 26th

Wednesday starts off good enough, but as the afternoon wears on so does our patience.  Everyone seems to be in a hurry for the sake of being in a hurry, and this in turn heats up relations of all sorts.  As best you can, try to maintain a cool, calm, level head and you’ll be better off than the rest!

Thursday May 27th

Not only does Uranus enter Aries this day at 6:48pm but we have the Full Moon in Sagittarius at 4:07pm.  It is the Milk, Flower, Planting, or Hare Moon, depending on your tradition.  Generally speaking, the Moon rather enjoys being in Sagittarius.  It gives it an opportunity to try new things, visit new places, and meet new people.  The Moon in Sag tends to be a sociable playful time, and this full moon brings that feeling to the entire day.  Enjoy!

Friday May 28th

Friday there are no exact astrological aspects.  However, from looking at the charts of the day, it appears that Friday is likely to be a day that encourages and promotes personal creativity.  If you have a memo or proposal to write, or a piece of artwork to develop, or a poem, book, play, or script banging around in your head, today is a good day to sit in front of a keyboard and start to make it real.  The energies are highly supportive of imagination, inventiveness, and personal expression, so now is a good time to take advantage and put them to good use!  Even if you don’t have a magnum opus to write, today is likely to be a day when witty phrases, or that perfect word more easily come to mind, helping to get your point across and assist your interactions and relations with others.  Use it well!

Saturday May 29th

May 29th is the beginning of the Memorial Day weekend in the US, and is a hodge-podge of aspects to the moon.  Sparks may fly, for both good and bad, and people are likely to be in a strange sort of mood in spite of the holiday.  The long and short of it is to be as flexible as possible with your plans, don’t take others too seriously, and have a great Memorial Day weekend!
And while you’re at it, have a great week ahead!

The Flow! is updated every Sunday.

Please note: all times are in the Pacific Timezone.

Greetings faithful friends and fans of The Flow!  This will be a special two-week edition of the Flow!   published just slightly tardy.  Regular weekly updates will resume on in two weeks on May 30th.

The synopsis for this special two-week period is See-saw at the edge of the world.

We are about to experience a colossal cosmic event with the opposition of Jupiter and Saturn on May 22nd at 10:38pm.   This event occurs fairly regularly at 20 year intervals, and has significant impact on our economic cycles.

Jupiter is the principle of expansion, growth, opportunity, grandeur, and throwing money around like there’s no tomorrow.  It is big, big, big!  Big-hearted, and has big dreams.  It supersizes hopes, dreams, McMansions, drinks, and fries.  It never saw an economic bubble it didn’t like.  But like steroids that also might fall under Jupiter’s domain, there are risks associated with unfettered growth, and some of the aftereffects of the burst of a bubble can be painful.

Saturn, on the other hand, is abstemious, focused, disciplined, miserly, and watches over each penny as it is spent or earned, always balancing the books with every carefully noted transaction.  While Jupiter may expand, Saturn constricts and contracts, and watches over every contract to ensure the terms are met.  Saturn does not spend on credit.  Credit is the invention of Jupiter.  Saturn spends only on what it must, and in a manner it knows it can trust.  When Jupiter’s bubbles break, Saturn is there to sweep up the mess.

Right now, Jupiter and Saturn are moving at opposite ends of the zodiac.  Jupiter at the very end of Pisces, and Saturn is right at the very end of Virgo.  Jupiter is swiftly speeding headlong into Aries, and will cross the line into that sign on June 6th, sparking a whole new economic cycle of growth.  Saturn, as a much slower-moving planet, will not reach its next sign of Libra until July 21st, and it will usher in a new cycle of balance, order, justice, and transformation.

Astrological oppositions are odd affairs.  Sometimes one planet gets the upper hand, only to give way to the influence of the other planet.  Astrologers like to think that they do so until a balance is reached.  But actually, I believe that especially between Jupiter and Saturn is that what we are witnessing is the transition from the transition from an economic model that we have had at least since the Bush years of the turn of the millennium that gave rise to the various economic bubbles that have burst, and the birth of a new era that is more controlled, more balanced, and more fair.

Jupiter’s entrance into Aries virtually ensures that the birth of this new economic order will be swift, energetic, headstrong, and fiery.  Stay tuned to this blog for future reports on its development!

But that isn’t the only major astrological event ahead for these next two weeks.

On May 11th, at 3:27pm Mercury goes direct.  YAY!!!  This has been one of THE MOST difficult Mercury retrograde periods in recent memory.  During this time, we have had nothing but delays, disruptions, mis-communications, computer glitches, and a host of mechanical and human bizarreness.  I will not weep its passing!   Usually, retrograde periods are marked by backwards behavior of all sorts, but this one has felt like going backwards in glue.  I’m sure it will take time for us to shake off all the remaining effects of this retrograde time, but the real world couldn’t return fast enough starting on Tuesday.

On Thursday, May 13th, at 6:04pm, we have the New Moon of Taurus.  I suppose because they are not visible, unlike Full Moons, New Moons have no names.  But if I were to give this new moon period a name, I’d call it the Jewel Moon.  The place in Taurus that this New Moon will occur, is symbolized by a Jewelry Shop.  Yes, it’s true that all sorts of jewels are to be found in a jewelry shop, and perhaps we will be lucky enough to experience a gem of an event happen during this moontime.  But the true meaning of the jewelry shop isn’t so much that of obtaining a bauble or two, but of understanding the value of those things in our lives most dear to us.  And that can be the greatest jewel of them all.  Because whether it is relationships, careers, goals, or dreams, once you know how much they means to you, you can better understand what it will take from you to make the most out of them.

On Monday May 17th,  we have both a square between Venus and Jupiter at 3:57am, and a sextile between the Sun and Jupiter at 5:41pm.   Astrological squares are spats, but a square between Venus and Jupiter is like fighting with marshmallows.  Considering the early morning time this one occurs, it is likely to add a bit of good natured one-upmanship to your dreams.  So, if you dream Sunday night that you tell your boss to go to blazes, you have this aspect to thank for experiencing such a delightful fantasy!  The Sun-Jupiter sextile could provide us with a new opportunity, a more hopeful outlook, or get an important task or project finished.  People should be more cooperative, more willing to work together, and more easily understand each other’s point of view.

On Tuesday, May 18th, we have a hodgepodge of aspects.  At 1:18am Venus squares Saturn, and we feel sluggish, cranky, and dour.  After Monday’s good feelings, late Monday night – early Tuesday morning leaving feeling like we gorged on Chinese food for dinner and are hungry for more.  The best thing for this aspect, is a warm glass of milk, or fine wine, and head to bed without taking your mood too seriously because the rest of the day is likely to be an improvement.  At 3:14pm, we have a trine between Venus and Neptune helping us unwind any tensions experienced earlier in the day, and topping the day off is an excellent trine between the Sun and Saturn, giving us the resolve and determination to wrap up the day’s work well, make significant progress on important projects, and a feeling of having accomplished far more than we feared heading into the day.

Wednesday, May 19th, is another hodgepodge day of mixed aspects.  The day gets off to a start in which virtually anything strange can happen, as the Sun squares Neptune at 11:16am and reality takes a vacation.  So don’t be surprised if you feel like you suddenly stepped into the set of Alice in Wonderland.  People are apt to behave strangely, have strange thoughts, and otherwise act like they’re auditioning for the job of clown.  This is compounded by another bizarro aspect between Venus and Uranus at 12:42pm adding to the circus-like antics of the day.    Just about the only people who seem to be able to hold on to their heads, hands, and other parts of their anatomy are Tauruses and Capricorns as Mercury comes to their rescue with a trine to Pluto at 11:44am in their signs.  If you find yourself wandering around the hall with a quizzical look or your head in your hand, look for the nearest Taurus or Capricorn, they’ll be to put you back together lickety-split.

Also on Wednesday, Venus enters Cancer at 6:05pm, trending people to feel less attracted to the technical, analytic and abstract, and be more compassionate, understanding, and sympathetic.  It’s time to put away the iPad, and take out the cookie dough.

Thursday at 2:46pm, the Sun sextiles Uranus, adding a bit of spice, novelty and originality to the day.  Sextiles to Uranus often bring out our more adventurous, eccentric side so it’s a good time for experimenting with something new, brilliant, or exciting.  While perhaps not potent enough of an aspect to make you want to start jumping out of airplanes, it could be a good time to break out of stale routines and old habits you’ve been trying to change.

The last astrological aspect of note is the entrance of the Sun into Gemini at 8:34pm on Thursday, May 20th.  Happy Birthday Gemini, and much more to come on that when the Flow! returns in two weeks.

Have a great couple of weeks!

The Flow is a weekly blog published to better understand the flow of astrological, celestial, and magickal energies for the week, and how best to use them.   It is intended for those with little knowledge of astrology.  For newcomers, the idea is to start with the slowest moving forces, as they are the most foundational, and work up to the swiftest, as they are the most fleeting.  If any of the material is unfamiliar to you, it is probably unfamiliar to others as well, please leave a comment so that any questions might be answered.

If you like what you see, please share it with friends!  If you would like to get email notifications for when The Flow! is updated, or have a private question please email me at skywatcher888@yahoo.com.  Thank you!

The Flow! is updated every Sunday.

The week’s synopsis: An interlude.

This is a wonderful weekend to be celebrating the Sabbat of Beltane, the Pagan/Wiccan holiday for celebrating the richness, fullness, creativity and fertility of Springtime.  Officially celebrated on May 1, Beltane gave rise to May Day celebrations world wide, and is a significant turning point in the Wheel of the Year.  Rituals for this holiday include bonfires and fire dancing, maypole dancing, and some traditions perform a rite signifying the union of the May Lady and Lord.  Beltane is an excellent opportunity for self development and growth, celebrating life, and stepping into new adventures.  I know there are many out there making a weekend of it, so to one and all – Merry Beltane!

This, however, is not a particularly busy week astrologically.

Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto are all still retrograde.  Saturn and Pluto retrograde are like two heavyweight boxers in the ring together dancing backwards as they prepare for the next round of punches. Saturn goes direct around Memorial Day, but Pluto doesn’t do so until mid-September. That probably will mean Saturn is preparing for a wallop when they meet in late August, but Pluto is rarely caught off-guard, and is fully capable of a crushing blow from behind.  This is one fight you don’t want to miss, because it is usually those unprepared for these bouts that get used as planetary punching bags!

Speaking of planetary punching bags…

I don’t know about you, but doesn’t it feel like this Mercury retrograde has suddenly gone into overdrive?  It has been nothing but computer problems, viruses, miscommunication communications, and delays, delays, delays!  It feels like someone is Tivo-ing my life in slow motion!  Fortunately, Mercury goes direct on the 11th.

Just about the only significant aspect this whole week is the very, very, very eentsiest glimpse of the upcoming aspect between Uranus and Pluto comes into play starting Friday of this week.  If you think the spat between Saturn and Pluto, which has been giving us political and geological pyrotechnics, is something — you ain’t seen nothin’ yet!

But, all this strife and struggle is for a good cause.  There is much talk about 2012 and the end of the world.  It’s not, it’s just the end of the “world” as we know it.  There is a new cycle, a new world coming, and world births always take some time.  First, we will have the preview and trailers later this summer, then the feature film begins in March 2011.  It should be quite a show!

But all that is off in the future.  And before we get there, we have next week.

Sunday, May 2 – Moon enters Capricorn at 3:00am

Saturday night, May 1st, is a little discombobulated, and that oddness carries over into early Sunday morning.  Neither here nor there, schedules are loose, minds are apt to wander, and nobody seems to care.  It’s rather hard to focus on any particular subject, so don’t try too hard – you’ll just strain those thinking cells that could really use the wander in their own space, rest, and recuperate.  Let ‘em roam, like good chickens, they’ll come home to roost Sunday afternoon and be in better shape and ready for whatever challenges Monday may bring.

Monday, May 3 – Moon in Capricorn

Monday and Friday are the best astrological days this week.  Early in the morning the Sun harmoniously trines the Moon at 3:57am, so as we head off to start the work week we are feeling a bit more confident as our inner and outer selves are in better balance and alignment.  Since they are both in earth signs (Taurus and Capricorn, respectively) we are also better able to project a sense of calm assurance, responsibility and trust in our abilities.  These feelings are enhanced with another harmonious trine between Mercury (our mind) and Pluto (our purposes) at 5:07am.  Monday morning, therefore, should be a good time for researching, solving problems, and negotiating disputes.  I wouldn’t be at all surprised to hear of some political compromise either here or overseas that could defuse a potentially tense situation, although in our polarized political environment it may take a larger planet than Mercury to get Pluto to give in!

Tuesday, May 4 – Moon enters Aquarius at 1:51pm

Tuesday is very much a mixed bag.  On the one hand, the Sun squares Mars.  This is a bit like having an argument with an drill instructor.  Any rash acts are likely to cause delays, obstacles, more challenges, and pushups.  Try to keep a low profile, mind all p’s and q’s, and you should be able to get by without mishap.  On the other hand, there are excellent lunar aspects for finances, starting and making plans, and new opportunities.   Don’t be too surprised if something nice comes out of the blue, particularly if you have a planet in late water or earth signs.  In the evening, at 10:35pm the Moon squares Mercury, so it’s miscommunication communication time.  Curl up with a good book, watch a movie, or read a blog, and just sit, be quiet, and don’t say a word.  Tonight is truly a time that silence is golden!

Wednesday, May 5 – Moon in Aquarius Last Quarter Moon (16º) at 9:15pm

Wednesday and Thursday are apt to both be weird trippy days, but for different reasons.  Wednesday, people are just grumpy.  The Quarter moon times rarely put people in a good mood, and while this one is accompanied by a nice aspect by the Moon to Venus at the same time it annoys the crap out of Mars.  What all this means is it’s likely to be an offensitivity day, meaning that in general, people really WANT to reach out and make significant emotional connections with others, just not with the people that are reaching out and touching THEM.  Hence, everyone gives offense (in ways both small and not small) to everyone else.  Lovely!

The truth of the matter is, that these astrological energies tend to make people’s defenses extremely strong.  People are not only on the lookout for, but almost anticipate others saying the wrong thing to them.  So, if you can get through others’ defenses, or try to put them at ease, you’ll have a better time relating to others today.

Thursday, May 6, Moon in Aquarius (still)

The Moon is not particularly happy in Aquarius.  The Moon is in heaven in grandma’s kitchen eating cookie dough with a spoon.  Aquarius dumps the Moon in the middle of Chemistry Class, and it is bored, stars fidgeting and making paper airplanes out of notebook pages, and tries to strike up a conversation with the student in the next seat.  Round peg, square hole.  And we’re stuck with it for another day.  So, unless you work with chemicals, computers, or for NASA, expect people to be a little bit crankier than usual.  (Unless, of course, you’re an Aquarian, in which case all of this is quite normal.)

Friday, May 7, Moon enters Pisces at 2:34am

Ah, Pisces!  As much as the Moon is uncomfortable in Aquarius, it’s quite at home in Pisces.  Like visit to a spa and enjoying the Jacuzzi.  In fact, if you have a Jacuzzi, Friday would be a great night to spend some time with it, as it will be a particularly relaxing and soothing experience.  Otherwise, we have a few good lunar aspects that encourage clear, succinct, and to the point communications, making plans and schedules, doing some writing (excellent time for replying to those emails!), problem solving, research, and understanding our place in the universe.  Friday afternoon gets the weekend off with a delightful sextile between Venus and Mars at 2:55pm.  We are open, flexible, and optimistic about the weekend’s plans, and looking forward to seeing people and going places.  It is a great time for sharing one’s life with others, because there is the opportunity for substantial emotional connections and a willingness to share what we think and feel.  Our energies are high, our spirits are good, and our outlook is friendly.

Saturday, May 8, Moon in Pisces

At 11:40am, the Moon squares Venus.  Eh!  So — not all the rainbows, sparkles, and dazzles of the night before turn out to be real.  So what?  We learned a bit about life, and a lot about our selves.  On the whole, not a bad bargain.  The final aspect of the week is a sextile between the Sun and Moon at 3:11pm, so we dust ourselves off, put our chin up high, and confidently walk into the week ahead.

Have a wonderful week!
